What is in our Air?

Air is a vast composition of many gases, although 78% of the air we breathe is composed of Nitrogen, while it only contains 21% of Oxygen. In addition the remaining 11% is a combination of gases such as Argon, Carbon Dioxide, Ozone, Hydrogen, Neon, Helium, Argon, Krypton, Nitrous Oxide and Methane.

WHAT IS AIR POLLUTION?

While Air Pollution initially consists of exact same compositions of Air, new implementations of chemicals, can create chemical compounds, that can characterize Air Pollution to be harmful to humans and a variety of living organisms.

The components of Air Pollution can be categorized in two groups such as gases and particles. The gases consist of Water, Carbon Dioxide, Ozone, Sulfur Dioxide, Nitrogen Oxide, and Volatile Organic Chemicals (VOC). In addition the particles can consists of black carbon, lead, and particulate matter.

Particulate Matter is categorized in Particle Pollution wish is a complex mixture of solids and compounds. Each Particle Varies in size and the size can be identified by determining if it is ultrafine, fine, or coarse.

6 COMMON POLLUTANTS

Contributing Factors of Air Pollution

1.) Ground Level Ozone (O3) :

Product of a Chemical Reaction from Volatile Organic Compounds

2.) Carbon Monoxide (CO) :

Combustions of Fuel From Vehicles

3.)Sulfur Dioxide (SO2):

Can occur artificially and naturally. Many of the artificial appearances revolve amongst fuel combustion and burning of coal, although Sulfur Dioxide can occur in the moment of a volcanic reaction.

4.)Particulate Matter(PM) :

Formed Primarily from Chemical Reactions, in common acts of burning either wood, coal, diesel. In addition, the atmosphere is exposed due to the industrial population and in road constructions.

5.)Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2)

Mostly occurs during the burning of fuels

6.)Lead (Pb)

Implemented from Metal Refineries, Combustive Leaded Gasoline in an Aircraft, waste incinerators, and battery manufacturing
